Deck falls off huge scissor lift at Winvic site

Two workers have been seriously injured after the platform detached from the arms of a giant scissor lift on a Winvic warehouse site in Northampton.

The scene of the accident was captured in this photograph showing how far the victims plunged with the work deck.

Experts at crane and access publication Vertikal.net said the machine involved is a new 65ft LGMG SR2024E electric Rough Terrain scissor lift owned by Premier Plant & Tool Hire which is part of Winvic.

It is understood the lift was working near an overhead water pipe at the time of the accident.

Manufacturer LGMG has sent a technical team to the site while the Health and Safety Executive has also launched an investigation.

Winvic has been approached for comment.
